Markins - TH 20

I've been using the M20 for more than 5 years, it has given me a very reliable performance in all these years, and is very likely to give me many more years of solid use. For once I'd thought I no longer need to buy anything from the Markins, and here they come out with some very interesting new accessories that really appeal to me.

The Tripod Hub TH-200, this is specifically made for the Gitzo Series 2 tripods. The idea is to remove the tripod legs and fit them onto the Hub. The Hub is cut from a single block of airplane grade duralumin and weighs 175g, and to top it all off, the Hub is greenish in color which really adds some spice to a dull boring tripod. I am using the Gitzo 1227, and had removed the center column and mounted the Markins TB20 to enhance the overall stability. With the new Hub TH-20, I can remove the tripod base completely and actually lower the height a bit. But the biggest advantage is the weight, photography is much more comfortable if we could reduce the weight even by a little, this little Hub serves this purpose extremely well.

The installation of the Hub is very straight forward, and the wrench used should come with the tripod as a package.

Simply un-screw the leg one at a time !!




Remember to remove the pipe inside the Gitzo hub !!



Then insert the tube into the Markins !!





Attach the legs onto the Markins hub !!




Lastly, screw the head mounting bolt from the bottom tightly, and you're set to go !! This is no brain surgery and took me about 5 mins. :)
